Apple's newest update is available for anyone with iPhone 4s or newer, iPad 2 and newer, or the fifth generation iPod Touch.
Instead of a drastic redesign of every feature of iOS 7, the new update focuses on seamlessness and cohesion between various aspects of different devices. For instance, continuity upgrades allow users to begin working on their mobile devices, and finish on their MacBooks. This can also be done in the reverse order, permitting work to be done on-the-go at quick notice.
The update also brings a slew of other changes to the operating system. Third-party keyboards are now supported, new widgets have been added for quick app alerts in the Notification Center, and saying "Hey Siri" out loud will now activate the software, hands-free.
The update can be installed via software updates under mobile devices' Settings, or through iTunes. The update releases two days ahead of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which both set a record for the most day-one pre-orders in Apple history.
