Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome to Make Online Debut

It’s been a long, strange road for Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome. First announced as a webseries, it was then intended to become a full-length Syfy series – only for the network to pass on it, having produced a TV-Movie pilot. Syfy had insisted the pilot would air though, and indeed it shall – but first, it will be released as webisodes, bring the project full circle.

As first reported by EW.com, Machinima Prime will debut the webisodes, with the first available on November 9th. There will be ten webisodes total, ranging in length from seven to twelve minutes. Early in 2013, Syfy will then air the complete Blood and Chrome TV-Movie – before a Blu-ray and DVD release of an unrated version.

Set in-between the events of Caprica and Battlestar Galactica, Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome stars The Borgias’ Luke Pasquaino as a young William Adama, a gifted fighter pilot who finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and hungry for action, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, the battle-weary officer Coker (Ben Cotton, Alcatraz). With only 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle as much as Adama craves its onset. Lili Bordán (Silent Witness) also stars.

David Eick (Battlestar Galactica, Caprica) is executive producer along with Michael Taylor (Battlestar Galactica, Caprica), who wrote the teleplay from a story by Eick, Bradley Thompson (Battlestar Galactica, Falling Skies) and David Weddle (Battlestar Galactica, Falling Skies). Blood & Chrome was directed by Jonas Pate (Prime Suspect, Caprica).

Cyberforce #1 Review

It's hard to really complain about anything in Cyberforce #1 because, hey, it was free. Not just free digitally or a free preview, but a free, full length, print comic. Not to mention that fact that it involves big name talent and comes from a major publisher. Certainly, there are worse comics that came out this week that you actually had to pay for, so already Cyberforce has a leg up on the competition. All that aside, this is a decent first issue that definitely warrants a read.

Marc Silvestri and Matt Hawkins have a built an interesting world here. This is a post-apocalyptic world that feels genuine. The story structure is great and slowly reveals the world to you in a very cool way. So far, the characters a little lacking, but since this only the first issue that's a forgivable offense. The next issue really needs to give more, but there is enough here to make you interested in that second issue. Here's hoping it delivers.

The biggest problem the book has is the art, which is surprising given Top Cow pedigree. Khoi Pham is an artist that can be really hit and miss, and he manages to do just that throughout this entire issue. Some panels look great, some look unfinished. For whatever reason, it seems like any time technology is drawn, which is often in a book titled Cyberforce, Pham just gives everything a scratchy quality. The overall effect is somewhat underwhelming. Still, there are more than a few great pages sprinkled through and hey, it was free. Hard to complain about free.

Halo 4: Spartan Ops DLC is "Longer Than ODST"

343 Industries' boss Frank O'Connor has responded to fan concerns over the length of Halo 4.

After yesterday's achievement list leak pointed to the game containing just eight missions, O'Connor explained on NeoGaf that this didn't reflect how long each would be.

The main campaign is substantial and will compare favorably with previous entries in the series.

Posting as 'Stinkles', he wrote that the "Number of missions has no bearing on the length of the campaign. It's a Halo sized campaign. PLUS [Spartan Ops] etc."

His words were then added to by 343 Industries' designer David Ellis (as lybertyboy) who claimed that "[Spartan Ops] season alone is longer than [Halo 3: ODST].

"Spartan Ops and Campaign are completely separate teams. As Frank mentioned earlier, the main campaign is substantial and will compare favorably with previous entries in the series."

Spartan Ops is a new story-driven game mode set to feature in Halo 4 and will replace the Firefight mode that appeared in Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST. Gamers can play it on their own or co-operatively with up to three other players, and the first Season of Spartan Ops plans to deliver five new objective-based missions and cinematics each week over a 10-week period. It's this content taken in isolation that Ellis has claimed will consist of more content than Halo 3: ODST.

So it seems if you were concerned after yesterday's news then there's no need to panic. Halo 4 launches on Xbox 360 on November 6.
