Mass Effect 3: Omega DLC Not Coming to Wii U

Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U will not be receiving the Omega and Leviathan DLC packs available on other platforms, EA has announced.

We heard previously that some of the game's DLC would be integrated into the game on the disc. It now appears though that not only with the Leviathan and Omega DLC packs not be part of the retail package, but they won't be made available for download via the Wii U eShop either.

We don't have anything to announce at this time, but we'll definitely keep you posted if something comes up!

In response to being asked on Twitter when the Omega DLC will be available for Wii U, EA replied, "Unfortunately it will not be available for Wii U."

When asked whether more DLC other than what's already been confirmed would be making an appearance on the console, the company responded, "Never say never. :)"

The packs that are built into the Wii U version at no extra charge are the Extended Ending, the Resurgence, Rebellion and Earth multiplayer expansions and From Ashes.

Alongside missing out on Omega, which is said to be the biggest DLC pack for the game yet, there are currently no solid plans to make the Leviathan, Retaliation or weapon packs for the game available on Nintendo's console.

That's not the end of the bad news either; despite being the only console not to receive the recently announced Mass Effect Trilogy set, EA also confirmed that there are currently no plans to bring either the original Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2 to Wii U.

When asked if those games would become available soon, the company responded, "We don't have anything to announce at this time, but we'll definitely keep you posted if something comes up!"

Mass Effect 3 is available on Wii U now in America and when the console launches in Europe on November 30. The Omega DLC will be released on November 27 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Max Payne 3 Hostage Negotiation DLC Release Date

Rockstar has revealed that Max Payne 3’s Hostage Negotiation downloadable content will be released for all platforms on October 30th. The pack will be available for $9.99 (800 Microsoft Points), or free to players who purchased the Rockstar Pass.

As Rockstar detailed earlier this month, Hostage Negotiation includes four new maps: Club Moderno, Estádio Do Galatians, O Palácio Strip Club and Favela Heights. The pack also includes new items, new weapons and a new avatar faction.

In a blog post on its official site, Rockstar showed off arm bandages and tattoos as accessories that can be equipped on the Filhos De Ogum avatar and revealed that “each faction's customized Heavy Helmet will reduce all damage taken to the head by 75%.”

Rockstar says that more details on the pack will be revealed next week, so keep checking back for new information on all four new maps. Until then, check out our Max Payne 3 wiki guide for all the details about the game.

Valve Confirms Hardware Development

A job listing on Valve’s site confirms that the company will begin developing hardware. A listing for an industrial designer says “Valve is traditionally a software company. Open platforms like the PC and Mac are important to us, as they enable us and our partners to have a robust and direct relationship with customers. We’re frustrated by the lack of innovation in the computer hardware space though, so we’re jumping in.”

The post continues, adding that Valve is interested in creating new user experiences. “Even basic input, the keyboard and mouse, haven’t really changed in any meaningful way over the years,” it says. “There’s a real void in the marketplace, and opportunities to create compelling user experiences are being overlooked.”

The post specifies that the position will add “expertise in product design and manufacturing, ergonomics, usability, aesthetics, and surfacing.” Candidates are also expected to have “6+ years of professional experience shipping world-class, high-tech hardware products” and “a thorough understanding of product design principles.”

Speculation about Valve’s entry into the hardware market has been flying since March, when rumors suggested Valve was working on a Steam Box console. Valve later debunked the rumors, commenting that the world is “a long way from Valve shipping out any sort of hardware.” Later, a listing for an electronics engineer to work on "platform hardware" emerged, as well as a blog post discussing wearable computing.

We’ve reached out to Valve for comment about the job listing and will update with any additional information we receive.

Thanks to CVG for the heads up.

Bethesda “Not Yet Satisfied with Dawnguard’s Performance on the PS3”

The saga concerning The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PlayStation 3 continues unabated. The chatter has recently revolved around PS3 gamers not getting a patch other platforms already received, as well as a Bethesda executive noting that Dawnguard DLC wasn’t even announced for platforms other than Xbox 360. But then news broke that PS3 gamers may indeed receive the Dawnguard DLC after all.

Today, Bethesda has confirmed that Dawnguard is up and running on PlayStation 3, but there’s a catch: it’s not running well. Posting on its official blog, Bethesda notes that it’s “not yet satisfied with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3. We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse. We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality.”

The post doesn’t technically confirm that Dawnguard will actually be released for PlayStation 3; in fact, the wording can be interpreted that it may never come out. However, we’ve reached out to Bethesda for official comment and clarification.

Dawnguard’s issues on PS3 follow a litany of problems the PS3 iteration of Skyrim has experienced since its launch last November, problems well chronicled here at IGN.

The DLC pack in question originally came to Xbox 360 last month, and was released today for PC.
