Sony Reveals the Newest Perks for PlayStation Plus

Beginning today, October 16th, North American PlayStation Plus subscribers are going to get a host of new perks, in addition to some perks already in existence that will stick around past that date. New PlayStation Plus perks have yet to be announced in other territories.

For starters, PayDay: The Heist, the cooperative robbery/crime shooter, will be completely free to download. We liked PayDay when it was released on PS3 a year ago. Additionally, The Unfinished Swan, which we gave a 9.0, will be available early to PS+ users for $15. It’s available to everyone else next week.

But wait, there’s more! A new beta for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale becomes available today for PlayStation Plus users. Players can use either PS3 or Vita, and play in 2-on-2 and free-for-all matches over PSN. The same six characters from the previous beta – Colonel Radec, Fat Princess, Sweet Tooth, Sly Cooper, Parappa the Rapper and Kratos – are the six characters included in the beta.

Finally, the following games and DLC will receive discounts for all users, while Monster World IV and SEGA Rally Arcade will receive steep discounts only for PS+ members.

PS3 Games: Amy, Costume Quest, Dead Nation, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Dead Space 2, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, Infamous: Festival of Blood and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Vita Games: Plants vs. Zombies and Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack.

DLC: Call of Duty: Black Ops (Rezurrection), Costume Quest (Complete) and Zen Pinball 2 (The Paranormal, Sorcerer’s Lair and Plants vs. Zombies tables).

The Newest PlayStation Plus Perks Are…

Sony has revealed the newest perks that will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers in the coming weeks (in North America). So let’s get right into it.

Starting on Tuesday, August 28th, players can expect discounts for Lights, Camera, Party!, Space Channel 5: Part 2 and Spelunker HD. Discounts for all three games brings costs way down: Lights, Camera, Party! goes from $29.99 to $15.00, Space Channel 5: Part 2 from $4.99 to $2.99, and Spelunker HD from $9.99 to $5.00. The later also gets steep discounts to its DLC.

During the update rolling out the next Tuesday, September 4th, the big perk during this announcement comes into effect. Borderlands will be completely free for PlayStation Plus users, and all of its DLC will be slashed in price as well. Daytona USA and Greed Corp will also be discounted. The former goes from $4.99 to $2.99, and the latter falls from $4.99 to $2.50.

The post outlining this update also promises more information soon on when Plus will be migrating over to PlayStation Vita, as well as when the size update for cloud saving (from 150 MB to a full gig) will be rolling out. So keep an eye out for that information soon.

Dust 514 Beta Headed to PlayStation Plus

CCP has announced a new beta period for Dust 514 exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Access will run two weeks, beginning on August 24th and ending on September 4th. While no new beta codes will be sent out during that period, people with All-Access Passes will still have access to the beta.

PlayStation Plus members will also receive a 50% discount on Dust’s Mercenary Pack, which is normally $19.99. The pack offers 4,000 Aurum, a 30-day active skill booster, and exclusive in-game items including a Dragonfly Scout dropsuit and Toxin ICD-9 submachine gun.

August 21st will also mark the launch of Dust’s Precursor update, which CCP detailed last week. In addition to live Dust 514 and EVE Online integration Precursor will also add Orbital Strikes, instant battle matchmaking, new environments, keyboard and mouse support and more.
